We introduce a data structure which provides efficient heap operations with respect to the number of element comparisons performed. Let n denote the size of the heap being manipulated. Our data structure guarantees the worst-case cost of O(1) for finding the minimum, inserting an element, extracting an (unspecified) element, and replacing an element with a smaller element; and the worst-case cost of O(lg n) with at most lg n + 3 lg lg n + O(1) element comparisons for deleting an element. We thereby improve the comparison complexity of heap operations known for run-relaxed heaps and other worst-case efficient heaps. Furthermore, our data structure supports melding of two heaps of size m and n at the worst-case cost of O(min {lg m, lg n}). A preliminary version of this paper [8] was presented at the 17th International Symposium on Algorithms and Computation held in Kolkata in December 2006. In this investigation, the headspace volatiles of treacle samples from three different producers were subjected to GC-MS and HPLC analysis in order to assess the variation in their aroma volatile composition and their content of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF). The volatile constituents were rich in aliphatic short chain acids, specially acetic acid, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, and furan derivatives. The HMF content varied according to the producer from 66 mg/kg to 179 mg/kg. The present investigation is considered to be the first, which determine the volatile aroma profile and HMF content for treacle.  相似文献

The possibility of operating a three phase slip-ring induction motor as a series connected motor is explored. The merits and drawbacks of this mode of operation are discussed. For this purpose, the necessary mathematical models along with the corresponding computer simulation are developed and experimental verification of the theoretical results is also carried out. It has been found in general that operation of slip-ring induction motors as series connected motors is possible providing that the rotor winding is connected in a sequence opposite to that of the stator winding. This adds flexibility to the modes of operation of these motors. Moreover synchronous operation is also possible, providing that the series connected motor is driven initially at twice its synchronous speed and then connected to the supply  相似文献

Sheep's anhydrous butter fat as prepared by including separately heat grits, turmeric, rosemary, sage, rue and fennel at a level of 75 g dry matter kg?1 butter. The product as stored at room temperature in clear glass jars for a period of one year. The storage stabilities of the anhydrous butter fat samples ere compared ith a control and ith a sample treated ith a 1:1 mixture of BHA and BHT at a level of 0.25 g kg?1. Both storage time and type of treatment had highly significant effects (P?0.01) on the peroxide value and free fatty acid content of the product. None of the treatments succeeded in keeping the peroxide value belo 5 mEq O2 kg?1 beyond the fourth month of storage. The BHA-BHT mixture and rosemary helped extend the peroxide induction period to 10 and 6 months respectively. Turmeric and heat grits ere as effective as BHA-BHT in controlling the oxidative rancidity during the first four months of storage. The rest of the herbs exhibited a pro-oxidant effect throughout the study hen they ere used separately. In a second experiment, some cases of positive synergistic interactions ere observed beteen turmeric and heat grits on one hand and the herbs used in the study on the other. This pattern as not regular as negative interactions ere also observed in some other cases. Free fatty acid content of all the samples remained belo 10 g kg?1 as oleic acid; hoever, fennel had a significant (P?0.05) effect on controlling the evolution of free fatty acids.  相似文献

The volatile aroma components of Egyptian green garlic leaves essential oil was investigated for the first time. After the utilization of garlic bulbs to prepare garlic oil or after drying the bulbs to produce garlic powder, garlic leaves are considered to be waste material, which is disposed of without any benefit. In this investigation, green garlic leaves were distilled and the essential oil was subjected to GC and GC-MS identification. The yield of the oil was 0.06% (based on wet weight of the leaves). The most prominent compounds of the essential oil were diallyl trisulfide (32.32%), followed by diallyl disulfide (31.35%) and methyl allyl trisulfide (11.40%); these compounds are the same as those found in garlic bulb oil. This means that garlic leaf oil is a rich, renewable and priceless source of garlic aroma compounds which could be utilized in fortification and enriching of garlic bulb essential oil to increase its quantity without changing the quality. Utilization of green garlic leaves for production of essential oil will also save, to some extent, the costs of disposing of large amounts of leaves in garlic possessing factories, transforming them into profits.  相似文献

The protein A encoding gene spa of four Staphylococcus aureus strains isolated from bovine clinical mastitis was amplified by PCR and sequenced. The four strains were selected after an initial screening of spa gene of 41 strains isolated from mastitic cows and were subjected to detailed investigations. According to the sequencing results the spa gene of three strains (M1, M2, M3) appeared with gene segments encoding five (E, D, A, B and C) and four (E, A, B and C) IgG binding domains for two (M1, M3) and one (M2) strain, respectively and with gene segments encoding four, two and two repeats of the octapeptide Xr-repeats for the strains M1, M2 and M3, respectively. For the remaining Staph. aureus strain (M4) gene segments encoding IgG binding domains E, D and A and a new domain BC with a size of 219 bp could be observed. The BC domain appears, with a deletion of a 123 bp segment from the border region between both domains, as fused domain of both previously characterized domains. The Xr-region of this strain had 11 octapeptide repeats.  相似文献

The economics of renewable energy are the largest barrier to renewable penetration. Nevertheless, the strong desire to reduce environmental emissions is considered a great support for renewable energy sources. In this paper, a full analysis for the cost of the kWh of electricity generated from different systems actually used in Egypt is presented. Also renewable energy systems are proposed and their costs are analyzed. The analysis considers the external cost of emissions from different generating systems. A proposed large scale PV plant of 3.3 MW, and a wind farm 11.25 MW grid connected at different sites are investigated. A life cycle cost analysis for each system was performed using the present value criterion. The comparison results showed that wind energy generation has the lowest cost, followed by a combined cycle–natural gas fired system. A photovoltaic system still uses comparatively expensive technology for electricity generation; even when external costs are considered the capital cost of photovoltaic needs to be reduced by about 60% in order to be economically competitive.  相似文献

The vibration and noise radiation from fluid-loaded cylindrical shells are controlled by using multiple stiffeners and passive constrained layer damping treatment. Dynamic and fluid finite elements are developed to study the fundamental phenomena governing the coupling between the stiffened shell, with and without damping, and the fluid domain surrounding it. The models are used to predict the response of the shell and to evaluate the effect of stiffening rings and damping treatment on both the structural vibration and noise radiation in the fluid domain. The geometry of the shell and fluid domain allows the formulation of a harmonic-based model, which uncouples the fluid–structural response of modes corresponding to different numbers of circumferential nodes.In this study, it is shown that stiffening of the shell reduces the amplitude of the vibration and noise radiation, particularly for high-order lobar modes. The attenuation of the shell response and sound radiation can be increased significantly through the application of passive constrained layer damping treatments on the inner surface of the stiffening rings.  相似文献

This study set out to evaluate the microbiological status of rabbit meat and the possibility of using irradiation to control foodborne pathogenic bacteria and extend the refrigerated storage life of meat. Rabbit meat samples were γ irradiated at doses of 0, 1.5 and 3 kGy. The samples were stored at refrigeration temperature, then the effects of irradiation and storage on their microbiological, chemical and sensory properties were studied. Irradiation at 1.5 kGy significantly reduced the counts of Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria monocytogenes, Enterococcus faecalis and enterobacteriaceae but was not enough for complete elimination of Salmonella. However, 3 kGy dose reduced the counts of S. aureus, L. monocytogenes, E. faecalis and enterobacteriaceae by more than 3, 3, 1.4 and 4 log units, respectively, while Salmonella was not detected. On the other hand, irradiation at 1.5 and 3 kGy significantly reduced the counts of aerobic mesophilic bacteria, psychrophilic bacteria and molds and yeasts and prolonged the refrigerated shelf-life of samples to 12 and 21 days, respectively, compared to 6 days for non-irradiated controls. Irradiation of samples significantly increased their amounts of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) but had no significant effects on their total volatile nitrogen (TVN) contents, while storage significantly increased the TBARS and TVN for irradiated and non-irradiated samples. γ irradiation showed no significant effects on the sensory properties of raw meat. Moreover, fried burgers prepared from irradiated rabbit meat showed high sensory acceptability similar to those prepared from non-irradiated meat.  相似文献

Vapour-compression units are the most widely used refrigeration systems. Interactive computer routines have been composed, in BASIC language, in order to permit the prediction of the performances of simple, multi-evaporator multi-stage compressor vapour-compression refrigerators when employing refrigerant R-11, R-12, R-22 or R-502. Listings of the composed programs and samples of the predictions obtained are presented. Use of the programs should facilitate investigating the behaviour of refrigeration units, and in particular the selection of the most appropriate operating conditions and the identification of the optimal design specifications for a unit for a particular application.  相似文献
